On Thursday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) released the following statement after the Veterans Affairs Committee markup of HR 3967:

Today's Veterans Affairs Committee markup is another example of how broken Congress has become and how poorly we serve the American people and our heroes.

There is absolutely no question that toxic-exposed veterans deserve the benefits they earned through their service and sacrifice to our Republic. And because this matter is so serious and because our debt is so great, it is an insult to pass half-baked legislation on their behalf and call it a day.

Haste makes waste, and we owe it to our heroes and the American taxpayer to do this right the first time. I will continue to work to ensure that toxic exposed veterans get the care and benefits they deserve in a fiscally- responsible, compassionate, and effective manner.
